Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 1/4 tbsp kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 12 slices american cheese
- mustard
- ketchup
- 2 sliced tomatoes
- lettuce
Preheat a grill for high heat.
Carefully mix the beef, salt, and pepper with the tines of a fork, but do not mash it. Lightly form each hamburger and lightly press into a patty shape.
Cover with plastic foil and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Place the patties on the grill grate, and cook for about 5 minutes per side, until well done.
Remove to a plate,put 2 slices of cheese on each patty and cover with aluminum foil. Allow the hamburgers to rest for 5 minutes and serve immediately on buns. Top with mustard, ketchup, tomato, lettuce and serve with coleslaw on the side.
